UPDATED JUNE 30 – A Message from Dr. Tro
Topics for Group Coaching Zoom Meeting
June 30, 2020 – 5:30 p.m. EDT
- Being Consistent
- Avoiding Paralysis by Analysis
Our practice has hosted more than a dozen free online Town Hall events over the past three months. These meetings were organized shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and we became aware of the additional stresses and challenges faced by patients trying to maintain their low-carb lifestyle.
These teleconferences have routinely attracted 80 to 100 attendees, and a large number of these people return week after week to participate in discussions on topics including various types of fasting, cheat days, binge eating, managing sabotagers, the fat lever, weight loss expectations, weight loss stalls, sensory specific satiety, and how to advocate for yourself.
I have been joined in these discussions by health coaches Amy Eiges and Brian Wiley who, like myself, have successfully used the low-carb lifestyle to sustainably lose weight and improve our health. Amy and Brian both have amazing ongoing success stories, but both are also well aware of the challenges that can easily sidetrack our efforts.
The purpose of these free meetings was to address an immediate and urgent need we saw due to the coronavirus, but it has become clear that the value of these meetings goes far beyond what we envisioned. We have received feedback from many indicating there is an interest in continuing these meetings beyond the three months we initially planned.
The free weekly sessions ran through Tuesday June 2, but as a way of continuing to support our community, we will continue to host free meetings on the first Tuesday of each month moving forward.
For those who would like to continue receiving the benefits of meeting every week, we are now accepting registrations for the monthly group coaching program, led by myself, Amy and Brian.
You can sign up for the Group Coaching program now for just $10 per month. Upon signup, you will receive access to the weekly online teleconferences, and all the benefits of working with our experienced, knowledgeable, and certified group coaches.
The objective of the group coaching is to provide even more support and information designed to help you as you continue your low-carb journey. Sessions will continue to be held on Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. ET. Sign up by June 9 to waive the introductory session fee of $150.
I look forward to continuing to be a part of your successful low-carb journey. Visit our Group Coaching sign-up page to reserve your place in this valuable program, and to continue receiving the benefits of the Group Coaching program.
Sincerely,
~Tro

These are truly difficult times for all of us, and the COVID-19 virus is just one of many concerns we’re facing—but we don’t have to face these struggles alone.
Dr. Kalayjian and attendees have discussed how each of us is coping with stress, and dealing with issues that are typically challenging, but even more so as we have been forced from our daily routines by COVID-19 pandemic.
The Town Hall meetings have been so successful and inspirational that Dr. Kalayjian decided to make them a regular event, as long as they are needed by the members of this community. The online town hall meetings are being held every Tuesday at 5:30 pm, Eastern Time (US and Canada).
Topics of the meeting will include:
- Appetite
- Satiety
- Low carb
- Intermittent Fasting
- Time Restricted Feeding
- Alternate Day Fasting
- Stress
- Binge eating
- Diabetes
- Congestive Heart Failure
- Hypertension
- Obesity
- And more…
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and share both their challenges and strategies they are using to overcome their challenges..
“The format of this online meeting worked extremely well to address the needs of individuals who, in some cases are alone for extended periods due to the COVID-19 situation,” said Kalayjian. “We have had great success using teleconferencing within our practice for the past few years. It was apparent that there was a real need for this, so we decided to offer these free town hall meetings as a service to the community.”
Kalayjian’s practice features group coaching, which is available through teleconferencing. Health coaches Amy Eiges and Brian Wiley are both available for health coaching. Learn more by visiting the Health Coaching page.

Kalayjian says what he fears most is something his patients are already reporting to him, that there are increasing levels of things like alcohol use, binge eating, and hostility in the home.
“These things worry me. They can easily undermine the progress my patients have made, and we have to figure out ways to talk these problems out and find solutions. These are truly difficult times and we are here to help. We are all in this together.”
One of the participants in the town hall meetings is Vic Basmadjian, who resides in Montreal Canada. “There is tremendous value in an online meeting like this,” Basmadjian said. “It’s like having your own support system. This is a tremendous asset to the entire community.”
Basmadjian said he has battled obesity for his entire life, but with help from Dr. Kalayjian and a ketogenic diet, he lost 100 pounds and is now enjoying a level of fitness and health he’d previously only dreamed about.
